Diet & Your
Spiritual Walk
This is a word from our archives which came several
years ago.
The teaching is still very timely.
As we
continue on our path to Know the Lord, we become
more and more aware of what affects our spiritual
sensitivity. An area that may be the hardest to fall
concerns our diet -- Not a diet to lose weight,
but a diet that will enhance our sensitivity,
rather than diminish it. I realize that we are walking
on "hallowed" ground here. I
am not saying that God is limited by what we eat, for
God is not limited, but if we seek to dwell on the
highest plane, then we will have to realize that what we
eat does have some measurable affect on our ability to
stay in tune and on a higher vibration.
This
age that we walk in is an age of overstimulation.
Overstimulation to such a degree that we are quickly
becoming a sterile society, devoid of perception.
Overstimulation of our "senses" comes from many
different angles; television and the movie industry; the
media and print industry; billboard ads; radio; fast
food chains, etc. The list could go on and on. We have
not truly realized just how over-stimulated we have
become, and why our perception can get so easily
clouded. Any "food" item that is of a stimulant nature,
like coffee, caffeine and sugar, will tend to "cloud"
your perception or better put, "dull" your senses.
The
scriptures speak that "if the time was not cut short,
that there would be no flesh saved alive." We may
think of that scripture in terms of the occurrence of a
nuclear war, but I will say this, the path that the
earth is on right now is one of imminent destruction.
The satanic plot has set mankind on a course of
destruction, even without a nuclear holocaust, through
the growing pollution of the earth and earth’s
atmosphere, and the decreasing quality of the food that
can be harvested from the "nutrient depleted" soil that
exists today.
Some
of the keys which have come to us have been simple ones;
Eliminate the distractions; simplify your lifestyle;
take control; watch what you eat, and what is eating on
you!, and most important, be aware. It is
difficult to take control of your life and atmosphere if
you are not aware that you have lost control in the
first place.
Everything within creation is composed of vibration. As
you appear in present form, you consist of matter which
is vibrating at a much lower frequency than those
angelic beings who live on higher planes. As our own
vibration lifts, so will our perception and awareness of
those who dwell on higher dimensions. Aside from our
diet, the greatest cleanser and "vibration lifter" of
all is the ongoing process of purification that the
believer is experiencing in this day. Daniel’s prophecy
in chapter 12 speaks of those who will be "purged,
purified and refined", and who will offer up acceptable
sacrifices unto the Lord.
Daniel
is known as one of the great mystics in the Old
Testament. From Daniel an excellent lesson can be
learned. Perhaps you all remember the story, after
Daniel was taken captive by Nebuchadnezzar, he was
brought along with other young men to serve the King. In
preparation for that service, the King commanded that
these young men be well fed from the King’s table. What
the King considered "well fed" and what Daniel
considered "well fed" were two different things. As the
servants brought the young men the portions of wine, and
rich foods, Daniel asked to be allowed to eat only raw
vegetables and water. Nothing more. As the story
unfolds, it was Daniel who looked the healthiest amongst
the lot of them, but more than that, he began to be
known as one who could interpret dreams, and understand
"mysteries". Daniel walked on a level that was
unparalleled at his time. He had many visions and
appearings of the Lord and of His bondservants to him.
I would not attribute all of that to his diet, but there
is no doubt in my mind that it was instrumental in
Daniel’s ability to be more aware and sensitive. You
also have the story of John the Baptist, who lived on
locusts and wild honey as his diet.
From
our years of experimenting with our diet, I would say
that we have gradually progressed towards
vegan-vegetarianism, which is a vegetarian diet that has
also eliminated dairy as well. Not for a fad, but
because our bodies felt a great deal better; the
sickness that we were so prone to; left, and more and
more we all found that we were more sensitive to the
moving of the spirit. If any of you have ever done a
"fast", one of the benefits of a fast is that in the
elimination of food from your diet, you gradually become
more and more clear. Part of that is attributed to the
cleansing and removal of toxins from the body, and the
other aspect deals with the removal of heavy, overly
processed foods in the diet which promote lethargy
and heaviness.
There
are many parallels that exist between the physical
functions of our organs, and their spiritual
counterpart. Take for example the liver. The liver
functions to eliminate poisons in the body. As those
poisons are disseminated, the natural cause and affect
is a healthier body on a physical level, and a greater
clarity and sensitivity on a spiritual level. The acid
based fruits, like oranges, pineapples etc, stimulate
the function of the liver, and thus help promote clarity
within your being.
I
would recommend that you consider foods that are less
processed, more raw, and foods which are higher in water
content. The higher the water content, the more that
food will have a higher vibration to it. The more dense
the food, like red meat, the lower the vibration of that
food, and the more adverse the affect it will have on
your system.
Life
is composed of the choices we make, and where we are
headed from here, spiritually, is dependent upon the
choices we make that will assist us in the direction we
wish to go. It is all a matter of choices, and sometimes
we must give up the lesser to obtain the greater.
One
good byline of the hour is to question everything.
Question what I am telling you. Question what the local
grocer has to say. Research it for yourself. I know that
for our family, diet became a major issue because we
enjoyed eating pretty much like everyone else, and it
took a little time to begin to recognize the difference
that a change in diet had. However, in retrospect, I
only wished I had understood the relationship of our
diet and our spiritual walk sooner, for I would have
made the choice much sooner had it been presented to me.
There
have been so many books written on diet, that it could
probably fill many libraries. I think in the end, each
one has to find what works for him, and much of it is a
learning process to find out. A book which we first came
upon about 20 years ago that began to shed
some light to us was written by Marilyn and Harvey
Diamond called, "Fit for Life". It provides
some very good reading if you choose to pursue an
understanding of some of the basic principles of food
combining and health and well-being.
While
we are in this present sojourn here on earth, you might
view it as a time of schooling. Everything you are
experiencing is part of your "schooling", and the
relationship of those stimuli which affect your
spiritual well-being and progress need to be monitored
and studied. When we can make choices based on
understanding the truth, then we will be able to truly
walk with real control.
